Peakspan is the age interval during which a person maintains at least 90% of their peak functional performance in a given physiological or cognitive domain.
Peakspan was introduced by Zhavoronkov, Ying and Wilczok in Aging and Disease (2026). Biovexity seeks to measure and improve the key systems involved.
Healthspan asks whether you are free of disease. Peakspan asks the question you actually feel the answer to: are you still operating at your best?
Most people spend decades in the gap between the two. No diagnosis, nothing a check-up would flag, and quietly less capable than they were at thirty. The research calls this healthy but declined. You know it as the hill that used to be easy and the afternoon that used to be productive. Peakspan is the part of life on the other side of that gap, and widening it is the whole point.
Systems do not decline together. Cardiorespiratory capacity, metabolic regulation, muscle and bone, and cognition each follow their own curve. So Peakspan is measured system by system rather than as a single score.
Peakspan is only visible over time. One test is a snapshot; the trend across repeated measurement is the signal. Testing establishes your baseline. Training and nutrition programming is built around it. Retesting shows whether it worked, and what to change next as your goals change.
Every step depends on the one before it. Reassessment is where a snapshot becomes a direction.

Everything you do — train, work, recover, sleep — is paid for in energy your cells produce. How much you can produce, and how efficiently, shows up in all of it.
VO₂ max is the best-validated measure of that system end to end: the peak rate at which your body takes in oxygen, delivers it, and uses it to produce energy. It is among the most studied measures in human physiology and one of the most consistently associated with long-term health outcomes — a fitness number and a health number at the same time.
Mitochondria are the powerhouses of your cells — the machinery that turns oxygen and fuel into usable energy. A high VO₂ max for your age and sex is one of the clearest outward signs that this machinery is working well.
It is also one of the more consequential numbers anyone can put on you. In a Cleveland Clinic study of 122,007 adults, cardiorespiratory fitness was inversely associated with all-cause mortality, with no upper limit to the benefit — and low fitness was associated with a greater risk than smoking, diabetes or coronary artery disease.
Unlike your age or your genetics, VO₂ max is a number you can meaningfully move — and moving it is a training problem before it is anything else. Coaching you through the training and the nutrition, then retesting to see what actually shifted, is the work.
There is a second reason to start here. Resting and active metabolic rate tell us how much energy you actually burn; body composition tells us what that energy is maintaining. Together they turn nutrition from a guess into arithmetic — how much to eat, and in what ratio, to lose fat or add muscle.
Metabolic rate varies between people far more than most expect, and generic calorie targets are built on population averages. If yours sits well off that average, a plan built on the average was never going to work — and it was never obvious why. We start with the baseline so that nothing after it is a guess.
So the first appointment is a measurement, not a plan. Resting and active metabolic rate, VO₂ max, body composition and strength together give you the baseline — and the baseline is what makes the second test worth taking.
Testing is done on clinical-grade equipment. Every test comes with a detailed report and an in-depth consultation with a metabolic specialist, who explains what your results mean and sets out the nutrition and training recommendations that follow from them.
Active clients also get the Biovexity app, to track progress over time, sync wearable data, and manage their nutrition, training and recovery plan.
Resting and active metabolic rate plus VO₂ max — how many calories you burn at rest and under load, and how efficiently you use oxygen at every intensity.
InBody 580 segmental analysis: lean mass, fat mass and water balance, limb by limb.
InGrip handgrip dynamometry. Grip strength is one of the most studied markers of whole-body vitality — it correlates with overall physical function and long-term health status, and it takes under a minute to measure.
A sit-down walkthrough of what each measure means for you, which numbers matter most, and what to do about them first.
Training and nutrition programming written against your results and adjusted as the numbers move.
Exercise with oxygen therapy (EWOT). Short intervals alternating enriched and reduced oxygen, programmed against your oxygen saturation levels — a cardiorespiratory stimulus at a fraction of the mechanical load.
A twenty-minute seated session using cooling and blood-flow restriction. Low joint load and no eccentric loading, so it stands on its own as a low-impact conditioning session without competing with your sport or the rest of your training — including in season.
Biovexity provides health and performance assessment and coaching, not medical diagnosis or treatment. Speak with a physician about any medical concern.
Lifespan counts years. Healthspan counts the years without disease. Neither tells a high performer what they actually want to know, which is how long they can keep operating at the level they operate at now.
Biovexity does not claim to slow aging. It measures where you are, identifies what is most worth working on, and measures again.
Peakspan is not about raising your peak. It is about how long you stay near it.
Biovexity is built for people whose work and life depend on operating at a high level, and who would rather see the number than guess at it.
In practice that is executives and founders, competitive amateur athletes, and professionals in their thirties through sixties who already invest in their health and have run out of patience for advice that isn't measured. If you have a wearable, a training plan, and no idea whether either is working, that gap is the one this closes.
Biovexity is based in Cochrane, Alberta, twenty minutes from northwest Calgary. Testing is done in person.
The Biovexity app is live on the App Store and Google Play. It holds your reports, connects your wearable data, and keeps the plan in front of you between tests.
Access your reports. Every test result, in one place, in plain language.
Connect health and wearable data. Your day-to-day numbers alongside your lab-grade ones.
Follow your personalized plan. Training, nutrition and lifestyle steps built from your results.
Reminders and tracking. So the plan survives a busy week.
Measure progress over time. The trend line, not just the latest reading.

Peakspan is the age interval during which a person maintains at least 90% of their peak functional performance in a given physiological or cognitive domain.
The term comes from the published literature — it was introduced by Zhavoronkov, Ying and Wilczok in Aging and Disease in 2026. Because it is defined per domain, you do not have one Peakspan — you have several. Each system has more than one marker worth tracking, so Biovexity measures the ones that move the needle most: how well you use oxygen, how your metabolism runs, what your body is made of, and how strong you are.
Healthspan is the years you live free of disease. Peakspan is the years you keep performing near your best. You can be free of disease and still well below your own peak — healthspan would not register that, and Peakspan would.
Then you are exactly who this is built for. Most people who come in are not at their peak — that is usually why they book.
The baseline is not a grade. It is a starting position. We measure where you are today, build a programme around those numbers, and retest to show what moved. You go from where you are to where you want to be, and at no point is anyone guessing.
Over 25 biomarkers across metabolism, fitness, body composition, and strength. That includes resting and active metabolic rate, VO₂ max, InBody 580 segmental body composition, and InGrip handgrip dynamometry.
Because it produces the baseline everything else is written against. VO₂ max is the best-validated measure of how well your body takes in oxygen, delivers it and uses it to produce energy, and it is one of the measures most consistently associated with long-term health outcomes. Measured alongside resting and active metabolic rate, body composition and strength, it gives the programming something specific to act on and the next test something to compare to.
It is one of the most common reasons people start. Resting and active metabolic rate establish how much energy you actually burn, and InBody 580 body composition shows what that energy is maintaining. Nutrition targets are then built from your own numbers rather than a population estimate, which is what makes them worth following. Biovexity does not promise a result — it measures where you are, builds the programming on that, and measures again to see what changed.
You exercise while the oxygen you are breathing alternates between richer and thinner air, at an effort level set by your own blood oxygen readings. The result is a hard workout for your heart and lungs without the pounding your joints would normally take to get there.
The idea goes back to Manfred von Ardenne's Oxygen Multistep Therapy. Researchers now study it as intermittent hypoxia–hyperoxia conditioning, and it holds up: in a randomised trial of older cardiac patients (Dudnik et al., 2018), five weeks of it improved cardiorespiratory fitness as much as eight weeks of tailored exercise, safely.
That study was small and looked at cardiac patients rather than athletes, so treat it as evidence the method works rather than a forecast of your result. It suits people rebuilding aerobic capacity, anyone whose joints limit how hard they can train, and athletes who want extra aerobic work without extra impact.
A twenty-minute seated session that combines exercise with cooling and blood-flow restriction. Low joint load and no eccentric loading, which is what allows it to sit alongside other training rather than compete with it.
It tends to suit in-season athletes who need conditioning that will not interfere with sport, people managing joint limitations, and people whose main constraint is time.
As with EWOT, it is a complement to a programme. Biovexity makes no claim that it treats or prevents any condition.
You can, and some people do. Adaptive altitude training — exercise with oxygen therapy, or EWOT — is programmed against your oxygen saturation, and Vasper runs to its own protocol. Both are effective modalities in their own right, and neither needs a metabolic test to be delivered properly.
What you give up is twofold. The first is the comparison. With no baseline, there is nothing to measure the block against at the end of it, and progress becomes a matter of impression rather than a number.
The second matters more. Metabolic testing surfaces limiters early, and breathing is the common one. A ventilatory pattern that caps how much oxygen you actually move shows up clearly under load, and people carrying one tend to fatigue sooner and think less clearly than their training would predict — often for years without knowing why. Finding it at the start changes what the programming should be. Finding it after a season of hard work only explains why the work underdelivered.
Where a result suggests something clinical, that is a conversation for your physician; Biovexity measures, it does not diagnose. But testing first costs one appointment, and it is the difference between training hard and training at the thing that is actually holding you back.
Yes, and we encourage it. You get a full report that belongs to you, and you are free to hand it to any practitioner you like.
What we measure complements what your physician already tracks rather than duplicating it, and most clinicians find the data useful to have. We are also developing referral relationships with local providers — waitlist members hear about that first.
Yes. We build assessment and coaching packages for teams, using the same testing and the same programming, at whatever scale suits you.
Reporting is designed so that individual results stay private to the individual. If keeping your people sharp is a business problem, it is worth a conversation.
Often, yes. Many Health Spending Accounts and benefits plans cover assessments of this kind, though whether yours does depends on your plan and provider.
We provide itemised documentation for every service so you have what you need to submit a claim. If coverage is the deciding factor, check with your plan administrator before booking.
Come fasted. No food for at least five hours before your appointment, and no caffeine, tobacco or stimulant drinks over the same five hours — all of them shift the numbers we are trying to measure.
Avoid intense exercise in the 24 hours beforehand. Anything over an hour of hard work counts; easy movement is fine.
Take your regularly prescribed medication as normal, and be ready to tell us what you take before we begin.
Arrive well hydrated, in comfortable athletic clothing and shoes. Bring a change of clothes and a towel for after the exercise portion, and a small snack for afterwards — you will have been fasting for a while by then.
Testing is paid in full at the time of booking.
Cancel or reschedule with at least 24 hours' notice and there is no charge — we will simply find you another time. Inside 24 hours, or for a missed appointment, the full cost of the scheduled testing applies.
The reason is straightforward: the equipment and the appointment are held for you, and that slot cannot be filled at short notice.
Yes, anywhere in the Canmore, Cochrane and Calgary catchment. We bring the equipment to you.
It works particularly well for corporate programmes, sports teams and departmental groups, where getting everyone to a single appointment slot is the hard part. Email [email protected] and we will put something together.

Most measures need roughly eight to twelve weeks of consistent programming before a change is bigger than the normal variation between tests. Quarterly is the rhythm most clients settle into. It matches how the body actually responds, and it keeps a full year of training on track instead of drifting between one-off tests.
Fifteen minutes, no cost. You describe what you are trying to hold onto or improve, and we walk through which measures would actually tell you something and what a first round of testing would involve.
First access to testing appointments when booking opens in Cochrane, plus occasional email from Biovexity — what is new in longevity and performance research, practical articles worth your time, and offers we send only to the list. We never sell your email address, and we never share it for anyone else's marketing. You can unsubscribe from any message.
